DJ Williams Mug Shot: Denver Bronco Arrested for DUI, Fined by Team

D.J. Williams (MUGSHOT): Denver Broncos Linebacker Arrested for DUI, Fined by Team

DENVER (CBS/KCNC) Denver Broncos defensive star D.J. Williams has been stripped of his Team Captain title after his arrest last week on suspicion of drunken driving.

Williams was arrested Friday morning when police spotted him driving his car without headlights.

“Once the stop was made, there was reasonable suspicion he was driving under the influence,” Lynn Kimbrough with the Denver District Attorney’s office told CBS affiliate KCNC.

The linebacker was cited with DUI and taken to a detox facility.

This isn’t the first time Williams has gotten in trouble behind the wheel.

In 2006 Williams pleaded guilty to driving while ability impaired and served 12 months of unsupervised probation and performed 24 hours of community service. He was initially charged in September 2005 with two counts of driving under the influence and a lane-change usage violation after sheriff’s deputies arrested him on the way home from a birthday party.

The team released a statement Saturday morning regarding Williams, saying they are “extremely disappointed in D.J. Williams’ careless and irresponsible actions.”

Williams was fined an undisclosed amount by the team and could face a multi-game suspension from the league because this was his second such arrest.
