A man wanted for murder in Ohio was nabbed in Tampa — on a DUI charge.
A Hillsborough County sheriff’s deputy spotted a Lexus weaving in and out of traffic and nearly crashing into other cars early Sunday morning, reports WTSP News in Tampa Bay.
The deputy said the driver, Michael Anthony Mitchell, smelled like alcohol and failed a sobriety test. As he went to handcuff Mitchell, the suspect struck the deputy in the chest and ran away, but was eventually shocked with a stun gun by another deputy, reports WTSP News.
Jail officials got a hit on Mitchell’s fingerprints: He was wanted for aggravated murder in Cincinnati and had been featured on “America’s Most Wanted.” They charged Mitchell with DUI and opposing an officer with violence, then alerted authorities in Cincinnati, accordig to WTSP News.
Authorities say in 2003, Mitchell shot an Ohio man to death outside of a bar and had been on the run ever since, reports WTSP News.
