Local law enforcement officers will be cracking down on drunk drivers this holiday season, and now they’ve got an extra tool to help them do it.
The Arroyo Grande Police Department unveiled a new DUI trailer Thursday.
The Office of Traffic Safety provided the department with a grant for the trailer, but every law enforcement agency in San Luis Obispo County can use it.
The trailer has space for officers to do DUI screenings, and also provides lighting equipment for checkpoints.
“It’s much safer and of course, if we have some wet weather coming up, much nicer to be inside the large trailer,” said Arroyo Grande Chief of Police Steven Annibali. “So we’re very pleased that the Office of Traffic Safety provided that.”
The ‘Avoid the 14’ DUI crackdown starts Friday and lasts through New Year’s Day.
