State police hold special DUI patrols in December

Illinois State Police (ISP) District 14 has announced the results of DUI Enforcement Patrols conducted in Fulton and Henderson counties during December.
Troopers issued nine citations for illegal alcohol and other drug-related activity by motorists and made two arrests for driving under the influence. Five other arrests or citations were issued as well, along with 33 written warnings.
Alcohol and drug impairment is a significant factor in over 40 percent of all fatal motor vehicle crashes in Illinois. DUI Enforcement Patrols are designed to keep roads safe by taking dangerous DUI offenders off the road. However, when other violations are observed such as driving with a suspended or revoked license, operating a vehicle without a valid registration or insurance, or safety belt violations, enforcement action may be taken.
DUI Enforcement Patrols are funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The grant is administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Traffic Safety.
