Warriors guard Charlie Bell arrested on suspicion of DUI

The Warriors have confirmed that reserve guard Charlie Bell has been arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Bell was arrested by the California Highway Patrol on Friday morning shortly before 3 a.m. by Lake Merritt in Oakland, a team source said.

“We are aware of the incident in which Charlie Bell was arrested on suspicion of a DUI early Friday morning,” Warriors general manager Larry Riley said in a statement, “and have informed the league office of the situation as we know it. We are obviously disappointed that one of our players would put himself in a questionable position — regardless of the final outcome — as this is certainly something we do not condone as an organization and take very seriously.”

Bell, acquired this offseason in the Corey Maggette trade, played six minutes in Thursday’s win over Milwaukee. It was his second appearance since Dec. 13. The other was a six-seconds stint at the Los Angeles Clippers on made his first appearance on Jan. 22.

“I have been fully cooperative with law enforcement officials during this time,” Bell said in a statement, “and look forward to a resolution to this matter.”
